Starting with the 20th of May, researchers of Foundation Conservation Carpathia started with a survey of species and habitats in Leaota. The field work is tough, after all, especially as there were several days of heavy rain, but we moved on.
On May 22nd, on the International Day for Biological Diversity, soil samples were taken and the habitats and some fauna and flora species were inventoried on Frumuselu Valley. Springs, creeks and waterfalls looked alive. Insects, birds and small mammals were hidden. But this weather seemed to be quite adequate for fire salamanders and frogs. Moss species enjoyed the rainy weather, as well.
