From mid-June to mid-August, our team, supervised by Dr. Oliviu Pop, biologist of Foundation Conservation Carpathia, will conduct vegetation monitoring on the alpine pastures. This activity is according to the protected area’s management plan and the biodiversity monitoring plan.
The aim is to investigate the evolution of sub-alpine and alpine vegetation in permanent sample plots, on every grazed meadow in order to assess the grazing impact.
The main objective of the biodiversity monitoring plan is to improve the information available for the managers of the area in and around Leaota Natura 2000 site through regular collection of data on biological resources and their utilisation. This is focused on identifying trends in protected area biodiversity and to assess whether management actions are successful.
